In 2011, we discovered the Miniature Zebu breed. We were walking through the Colorado State Fair livestock area during the last weekend of the fair, and all of these tiny cows were standing there with humps. Neither one of us had ever seen anything like this before. We started walking through just looking at them admiring how awesome they were.
Finally in 2013, we started talking to several of their owners. This was where we started learning about the breed. They told us they were there for the Miniature Zebu livestock show. We took several of their business cards and then we stayed and watched the Miniature Zebu show that year.
Later that evening we went home and started doing a bunch of internet searches about the Miniature Zebu.
Year after year we kept going back to watch the Miniature Zebu’s. Watching new people come with their cows. Seeing some of the same people come back year after year. We continued to talk to them, learning more and more, as well as continuing to watch the livestock shows.
In early 2015, we bought our first two Miniature Zebu. We are hooked! Once you buy one, you will want two. They are like potato chips! You can’t have just One! Or Six! Or Ten!
Two was all we needed to feed our habit. In 7 short years, as of December of 2022, we have 13! Yep! 13! We have spent the last 7 years creating a breeding program that we are extremely happy with. Please check out our “Sale Page” for a listing of our animals that are for sale.
If you care to read about the history of our animals and how and where we acquired them, click “Our History“.
If you would like to see our herd, check out “Our Herd” page on this site to see pictures of them all. We are constantly trying to update them to give most recent pictures of what they look like as they get older.
Of course if you want to see them in person, you are more than welcome!
When we started with Miniature Zebu, we didn’t know a thing. We still don’t know everything, but we are learning more and more everyday! We have combed through the internet for years and we will continue to do it for years to come. With the Miniature Zebu breed, there is a strong network of people out there that we call “family”. Everyone is always willing to help. There are several Facebook pages you can join to learn about the breed and to ask any and all types of questions. Usually, someone has experienced the same thing you are or have experienced.
Miniature Zebu are the first livestock we have ever owned. As a matter of fact, they are first farm animal we have ever owned! We chose a very easy farm animal to have, having never done anything like this before.
We have a small acreage here in Vineland Colorado. They do very well on small acreages and they are spoiled to the max! Come by! We love to talk Miniature Zebu to anyone that wants to listen! We love to educate people about the breed. Many people have not heard of them. Just like us a few years back!
By the way, we aren’t farmers either. We both have day jobs as well. I work from home for the State of Colorado as the Operations and Support Manager for the Enterprise Content Services team for the Office of Information Technology. Yep, I am a computer nerd! My wife, Julie, also works from home and is the project lead/supervisor and hiring lead for a contract coding company out of Cincinnati Ohio.
This is our Hobby! We love to go to livestock shows and show off our little animals. We are now part of the group that has their animals at the Colorado State Fair. Only now, we are answering the same types of questions that we had several years ago. We have been to the State Fair of Texas and the State Fair of Louisiana to show and promote the breed! We have also traveled to a little show in Oklahoma. In 2018, we visited the Superbowl of Stock Shows; the National Western Stock Show in Denver to see if we could get in and have a show there! Needless to say, we are the founders of the zebu show at the National Western. I am the Superintendent of both shows that are in Colorado, the Colorado State Fair Miniature Zebu Show and the National Western Stock Show Miniature Zebu Show!
Can you say, Full Circle?
